Hearing set in high-speed chase

A pre-preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a driver facing four charges after he reportedly led Stroud police on a high speed pursuit.

Dustin Don Secrest, 41, of Coweta, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 10 with two felonies and two misdemeanors.

Secrest also has multiple felony convictions, information filed in the case shows.

He appeared March 7 before Special Judge Emily Mueller who set his bond at $20,000. Secrest made his initial appearance before Judge Mueller on March 16 at which time she scheduled his pre-preliminary hearing for 1:30 May 11.

Judge Mueller has continued that hearing until July 20.

A passenger in the truck driven by Secrest was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was held for another county.

Stroud Police Chief Clint Gaylord previously commenting on the pursuit and charges, said, “These guys are no strangers to law enforcement officers. Obviously, they haven’t learned anything, they’re a menace to society. They’re still getting caught.

“Hopefully, we can send them back to prison.”

Gaylord added, “Fortunately, the pursuit was at night, the traffic was light and that was the good thing.”
