Meeker Board of Education members this week voted to hire several new personnel for the 2023-2024 school year and also approved a contract with an architectural firm. They also approved the annual continuing resolutions for 2023-2024. After spending a brief time in executive session and returning to open meeting, the board members approved the hiring of Alex Newport, middle school teacher and coach; Bobbie Borcherding, counselor; Shelly Landers, middle school paraprofessional; Bailey Vaughn, high school and middle school teacher; and Candice Gatz, elementary teacher.
The board approved the Meeker School Salary Schedule for 2023-2024. School Supt. Jeff Pruitt advised board members the schedule is based on legislation that reflects teacher pay raises.
In other business, the board members: Approved a waiver/ deregulation for the elementary, middle school and high school library.
Approved a contract with David Harp as treasurer for the 20232024 school year.
Approved an option to convert from a day calendar to hours for the 2023-2024 school year.
Approved the high school, middle school and elementary school handbooks for the 20232024 school year.
High School Principal Brad Buxton in his report told the board of lots of summer activities students are involved in and said enrollment is about 228 students.
