McLoud requests audit of records

McLoud City Council members have voted to formally request State Auditor Cindy Byrd conduct an investigative audit of certain city records of the city of McLoud.

Their action came during a regular meeting late last week.

At the Council’s June meeting, Mayor Daniel McClure, Jr., appointed Councilmen Phil Solinger and Larry Dillon as a committee to investigate possible unauthorized or unlawful expenditures of the past administration.

Last week’s action apparently was the result of that.

Court Clerk Monica Poindexter said on Monday the Council’s motion didn’t specify a particular time period.

Poindexter said the Council also referred back to the Planning Commission an item on whether property at 1863 S. Pottawatomie Rd. in McLoud should be split into two lots. Current use of the property is for storage. Proposed use of the property is also for storage.

In other action, she said the Council approved a city attorney contract with Mat Thomas.

The Council also: Approved creating a rebranding budget.

Decided to come with a draft copy of garage sale permit requirements and ask for the public’s opinion before taking any further action.

Took no action on creating a Parks Advisory Board.

Authorized going out for bids on property, worker’s compensation and General Liability Insurance.

Authorized City Manager Cody Roe to solicit bids for the 8th Street repair/replacement.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, members want Roe to get a contract together with Eastside Waste and come back to them with the proposal.
