An Agra man who has waived a jury trial waived on charges of lewd acts to a minor has pleaded guilty and a date has been set for his sentencing.
Jason Dwayne Chapman, 41, was formally charged Sep. 29, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with two counts of lewd acts to a child under 16 years of age and one count of lewd proposal to a child under the age of 16.
On July 18, appearing before District Judge Traci Soderstrom, Chapman pleaded guilty to Counts 1 and 2. Chapman requested a pre-sentence investigation and the judge granted the request and ordered one and received the pleas.
She set his sentencing date for 9 a.m. on Sep. 7. The judge advised Chapman that he will be subject to the mandatory registry for sex offenders and the rules and conditions of that registry.
Judge Soderstrom placed Chapman in the custody of the Lincoln County Sheriff pending sentencing.
On May 16, again appearing before Judge Soderstrom, he waived a jury trial.
Chapman is accused on Jan. 31, 2013 of all three charges at a residence in Chandler.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim went to the Chandler Police Department on Sep. 16. 2021 to report an incident that happened to her when she was 13 years old at the time.
In the affidavit, it states the victim informed Chandler police this happened roughly 30 times over a sixmonth period.
The victim told police at first she didn’t want the case prosecuted. However, several days later, after officers continued their investigation and the defendant in the case was interviewed, the woman returned to the police department on Sep. 23, 2021, and told officers she wanted to proceed with the case and the information was turned over to the district attorney’s office, according to the affidavit.
