Headed for state

Dale’s fast-pitch and baseball teams won their regionals last week and advance to play in the state tournaments this week.

The Lady Pirates rolled through their Super Regional as they have all year, bouncing Morrison, 10-0 and 11-0.

Ranked No. 1 and the top seed in the state Class 2A state tournament, they play Wyandotte at 11 a.m. on Field 3 at Firelake. A win in that game puts them into Friday’s semifinal at 4 p.m. against the winner of Haskell and Latta.

The finals will be played at Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The baseball team won its regional, beating Byng 10-0 and advancing to the state tournament, where they will face Silo, coached by former Dale head coach Eddie Jeffcoat.

That game is 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Edmond Memorial.

The will square off against the winner of No. 1 Oktaha and Preston at 11 a.m. Friday.

The championship game is at 12:05 Friday at the Bricktown Ballpark A third Central Oklahoma team was playing for a state tournament when we went to press on Tuesday. North Rock Creek was hosting Elk City in a Class 4A fast-pitch Super Regional, with games at 3 and 5 p.m.

An “if necessary” game would be on Friday in the best-of-three series.
