Dale Board of Education members this week rehired the superintendent and heard reports from the three principals.
Following an executive session that lasted about 30 minutes, they returned to open meeting and voted to extend the contract of Supt. Will Jones for the 20242025 school year.
Jones is currently in his second year as superintendent of the Dale School District.
During his superintendent’s report, Jones reviewed financial information showing that the warrants as of November 2023 were $2,266,563 and in November of 2022 were $2,112,539. That’s an increase of $154,024 over the same month a year ago, he noted.
Building Fund cash balance in November of this year was $2,170,402 compared to $105,379 in November of 2022. That’s an increase of $2,065,023, Jones said.
The General Fund cash balance in November of this year stood at $693,012, about $455,003 more than the $238,009 balance in November of 2022, he said.
Jones has explained both those balances in the Building Fund and General Fund are much higher than they were a year ago due to insurance claims where the money hasn’t been expended yet but is expected to in the early part of 2024.
State Aid received as of November 2023 was $1,266,624 and that is $183,729 up from the $1,082,895 in November of a year ago.
The County sales tax balance was $376,760 in November of this year, $57,579 less than the $434,339 in November of a year ago, he advised board members.
November sales tax check amounted to $29,401.
Balance of 2022-2023 Esser III Budget funds stands at $219,130, the superintendent stated.
Jones also reported that Dale High School’s boys basketball team went 3-1 in a Tournament of Champions played at Washington, Ill, where they defeated the 16th rank high school team in the nation.
