Bench warrant issued

A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Stroud man who faces two felonies.

Sahlamon Marquis David Godwin was formally charged in Lincoln County District on April 9 this year with second degree burglary and larceny of automobile, aircraft or other motor vehicle.

Godwin is accused on March 18, 2024 with breaking and entering into a building located at 1021 W. Main, Stroud owned by Harold Coffman in which property of value was contained, by entering the north side back door, with the intent to commit larceny.

On the same day he reportedly took a 2006 Dodge 1500 Crew Cab without Coffman’s consent.

Stroud Police Sgt. Aaron Keeling states in a probable cause affidavit that on March 19 this year he was dispatched to Old 66 Auto at 1021 W. Main in Stroud on a report of vehicle being stolen from the business.

Keeling said he made contact with the owner, Coffman, who informed him that one of his employees, Sahlamon Marquis Godwin stole a 1500 Crew Cab from the parking lot of the business.

Coffman further advised the officer that Godwin didn’t have permission to take anything from the business.

Coffman reported to Keeling that the theft was caught on surveillance video at his business. He said Godwin had broken the door handle off of the back door on the north side of the building and entered the business.

The business owner related to the officer Godwin had stolen the title and keys to the Dodge.

In the affidavit, Keeling describes in detail what he observed on the surveillance video and how Godwin reportedly took a tag off of another vehicle in a fenced in lot and placed it on the 2006 Dodge truck.
