Early voting begins today for the June 18 primary election across Oklahoma and voters can take advantage of that at the Lincoln County and Pottawatomie County Election Boards.
Lincoln County Election Board Secretary Melissa Stambaugh said early voting is open to all voters.
Early voting is available Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Courthouse located at 811 Manvel Ave., Chandler, OK. Stambaugh reminds voters that early voting is not available at polling locations.
On Tuesday, voters must go to their respective precincts to cast their ballots.
Only Republicans in Lincoln County can cast their ballots in this year’s primary election since all of the candidates are from that party.
County races on the ballot include: County Clerk, Dina Wayland Frazier and Alicia Wagnon. Wagnon is the incumbent.
Sheriff, Aaron Bennett, Jim Hampton, Kevin Wayne Garrett, Chad Pavlicek and Larry William Stover. Current Sheriff Charlie Dougherty is retiring at the end of his term this year.
District 2 County Commissioner Bobby W. Johnson and Marlon Miller. Miller is the incumbent.
House District 32 State Rep. Kevin Wallace, who represents all of Lincoln County, is challenged by Jason Shilling and Jim Shaw.
In Pottawatomie County, the primary election is also a strictly Republican affair. Early voting is available Thursday and Friday, June 13 and 14, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pottawatomie County Election Board, 330 N. Broadway, Shawnee.
County races on the ballot include: County Clerk, Buck Day and Raeshel Flewallen. Flewallen is the incumbent.
For Sheriff, Freeland Wood, retired longtime Shawnee Police Officer and Travis Dinwiddie, current undersheriff, are running to succeed current Sheriff Mike Booth who is retiring.
For District 2 County Commissioner are Terry Gregory, Scott W. Hawkins, Greg Rush, Justin Caldwell and John Stanley. Rush is the incumbent.
District 17 State Sen. Shane Jett is challenged by former State Sen. Ron Sharp along with Rachael Melot and Cody Swearingen.
District 28 State Rep. Danny Williams is challenged by Darlene Wallace.
