Meeker board amends retirement system

Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees this week approved an ordinance amending the employee retirement system and defined benefit plan for the Town of Meeker.

They adopted a revised and restated retirement plan to eligible employees for the Town approved by the IRS.

Trustees then adopted the emergency clause and further they amended the joinder agreement with the plan to be effective Jan. 1, 2025, outlining the plan options.

Town Administrator Jeff Wilbourn, in his report, announced that City Hall will be closed Nov. 27 through Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holidays.

He also advised the Trustees that 20 new street signs will be coming soon.

Wilbourn said the annual Christmas parade will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7 with lining up starting at 5 p.m. at the high school.

In other business, the Trustees approved dates for town entities during the 2025 calendar year.

The Board of Trustees will hold their meetings at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of each month except if a holiday falls on that Monday the meeting will be held the third Tuesday of the month.

The Meeker Municipal Planning Commission meeting dates will be at 4:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month.

The Municipal Court dates for the calendar year 2025 will be on the first Tuesday of each month unless other specified. The Municipal Court Trial docket will be held every two months before court starts, beginning with February at 3 p.m.

The Meeker Industrial Trust Authority meetings are scheduled for 4 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month unless otherwise specified.

Meeting as the Public Works Authority, Trustees approved a contract and notice of award for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board REAP Replacement project. Wilbourn explained the grant portion is $40,263.09 and the Town’s cost is $2,043.91 bringing the total cost to $42,507.

Trustees also approved the regularly scheduled meeting of the Public Works Authority in 2025 to be held on the third Monday of each month immediately following the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees that begins at 6 p.m. If a holiday falls on that Monday, the meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of the month.
