Lincoln County commissioners this week appointed a new County Court Clerk to fill the position that longtime Court Clerk Cindy Kirby is stepping down from after 21 years.

On Monday of this week, commissioners unanimously appointed Kirby’s first deputy Kristie Hammock to succeed Kirby.

Two weeks ago as she submitted her retirement letter, Kirby recommended to commissioners, as she once again did on Monday they appoint Hammock to fill her position.

On Monday she told commissioners, “Her leadership will continue to make the office great.” Kirby’s retirement is effective Oct. 31, 2025. She said there will be a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the courthouse in her honor.

Commissioners took no action on using ARPA interest for jail door and locks installation.

They approved Homestead at Spring Creek plat in District 2.

Commissioners also adopted a General Fund reimbursement resolution for the Sheriff’s Office.

In other business, commissioners: Took no action following a brief executive session regarding a case.

Adopted a resolution for OSU Extension furniture and fixture purchases.

Approved a CLEAN Service agreement. Approved Notice of Assignment of contract funds for Fair Barn reroof project.

Approved reimbursement to the Election Board. Approved an account for Emergency Management payroll.

Accepted a resignation from the Arlington Fire Department and the nomination for his replacement.

Adopted a resolution utilizing CBRI funds for a District 1 resurfacing project.
