Meeker town board meeting

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week approved the certification for the REAP Grant and set the dates for the 2026 meetings each month.

Trustees will hold their regular meetings on the third Monday of each month beginning at 6 p.m. If that Monday falls on a holiday, the meeting will be held on the third Tuesday of the month.

They also set the dates for the Municipal Court to meet, the Meeker Industrial Authority and the Municipal Planning Commission.

Trustees voted against having Five Tool Management research, apply and accept if awarded the Built Environment Grant for projects related to planning and design for physical acitivity.

On the REAP grant the Trustees’ action will allow Mayor Donna Weber to sign and submit the application for the grant.

They approved the application for the REAP grant from the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District (COEDD).

In other business, Trustees: Set Trick or Treating in Meeker from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025.

Voted to approve or modify the liability insurance plan with Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group for Nov. 1, 2025 to Nov. 1, 2026 in the total amount of $20,808 allocated as follows: General Fund $14,806.35 and Public Works Authority $6,001.65. That represents a 25 to 35 percent increase from the prior year which was not included in the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget.

Agreed to increase annual business permits to $50 per year for the calendar year.

Voted 2-1 to increase the vendor fee for the Farmer’s Market per event.

Mayor Donna Weber and Trustee Kenneth Massey voted in favor. Trustee Lanny Thompson opposed it.
