Meeker appoints new judge

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week appointed a new judge and set the 2026 Court Date schedule.

Without going into executive session, the Trustees voted 5-0 to appoint Marvel Lewis as the Town judge. Lewis, in addressing the Trustees, advised them he has been an attorney for more than 20 years. He also informed them he is the judge in Luther and Crescent and recently was named the city attorney at Guthrie.

Lewis will start as the new judge in January. The court dates in Meeker will now be held on the second Tuesday of each month beginning at 3 p.m.

Trustees also heard a presentation on the 2024-2025 audit.

The Trustees agreed to pay the Meeker New Hope Cemetery Association mowing invoice of $5,071 to reimburse the Association for mowing fo the year 2025. Expenditure for mowing is $7,700.

Donations made to the cemetery for the year were $2,629.

Trustees tabled action on new Conceal Carry Law changes and the impact it has on City Hall.

They voted to pay holiday pay based on an employee’s work schedule.
