Prague School Board swears in new member

ThePragueSchoolBoard swore in newest member David Johnson into Seat #1 at its regular meeting on April 13.

According to the meeting’s minutes, JarrodVanZant administered the Oath of Office for Johnson. Following that, the Board approved keepingVanZant as president, Levi Lee as vice-president and Rainey Carter as clerk.

The Board also approved a slate of resignations and new hires for the 2026-27 school year, as well as both career and probationary teachers for the school year. The resignations were: Ashley Baker (high school English), Heather Morris (custodian), Jason Ravan (elementary and early childhoodcentersevereand profound SPED teacher) and Jon Morrel (middle school/high school severe andprofoundSPEDteacher for FY26).

JerelynAtchison was approved as the high school principal for the next school year. The Board also approved the hiring of Zachary Montiel as a custodian and Sidney Whitney as an elementary SPED.

In the superintendent’s report, Kimberly Fleak said that Mr. Longest, the temporary band director, is not looking to return for the next school year; however, they are interviewing a new applicant. She also met with Joe D. Hall Construction on the new high school, and it is proceeding well. The drywalling is done and windows are being installed, raising the chances ofmovinginaroundAugust 2026.

The Board approved an increase in a purchase order for Constellation by $5,000 from $14,115.68 to $19,115.68.

The School Board also approved the following on the consent agenda: - Overnight trip for FFA State Convention - Out-of-state trip for BPA National Leadership Conference - Application for Temporary Appropriations for FY27 - Contract for FY26 with Bledsoe, Hewett and Gullekson for certified public accountants - Contract with Total Rehab for speech services for FY27 - Contract with Foundation Therapy for FY27 - Renaissance Subscription for FY27 - Policy EMC - Graduation Policy Contract - Policy FFA - Health: Students - Police FE - Student Transfer Policy
