Aman is facing a felony DUI charge after an incident on the Turner Turnpike on July 17.
On July 27, the Lincoln County District Attorney’s Office filed one count of felony driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol againstMichaelCameron, 52, of Texas, according to court documents.
The probable cause affidavit said that Trooper Patrick Ball was on patrol of the turnpike at around 10p.m.onJuly17whenhe was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at mile marker 154 nearWellston. When he arrived at around 10:30 p.m., he saw a white Jeep Wrangler bearing a Texas license plate on the outside shoulder of the eastbound lane. The Jeep had significant front-end damage.
Ball made contact with the driver, who he identified as Cameron, in the back of an ambulance. According to the report, Cameron stated that he was driving from Oklahoma City to a hotel in Guthrie when the accident occured. He further stated that he had been at a restaurant. Ball reported that he asked if Cameron had had any alcohol and Cameron said he had three beers. During this interaction, Ball claimed he smelled the odor of alcohol coming from Cameron’s breath.
After Cameron was looked over, Ball asked Cameron to go to his patrol unit, to which he consented. There, Ball performed routine safety checks and then asked if the driver would consent to standard field sobriety tests to ensure that he was safe to operate a vehicle. Cameron consented, according to the affidavit.
Cameron allegedly exhibited signs of intoxication during three parts of the test. Ball then administered a preliminary breath test, which returned a positive result for the presence of alcohol. At about 11:21 p.m., Ball placed Cameron under custodial arrest for aggravated driving under the influence. He read the implied consent warning andCameronconsentedto a state breath test, according to the affidavit.
BalltransportedCameron to the Lincoln County Jail to administer the test, which returned 0.11 BrAC. Cameron was then transported to the Stroud Regional Medical Center to be evaluated for injuries. Once cleared, Cameron was transported back to the jail where he was booked without incident.
