Football season kicked off with scrimmages last week and continues this week as five of the area’s seven football-playing schools open regular-season play.
Chandler hosts long-time state power Clinton at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions split with Clinton the last two seasons, winning 32-7 at home last year after falling, 21-0, at Clinton in 2024.
The Lions finished last season with a 7-4 record while Clinton finished 4-7.
Meeker opens its season Friday with a 7 p.m. road game against the Luther Lions. It will be the Bulldogs’ first game under new head coach Larry Lewis.

McLoud goes to Bridge Creek for its opener on Sept 26. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
North Rock Creek opens at home against Tecumseh at 7 p.m. Friday.
Prague goes to Stroud for a scrimmage at 6 p.m. Thursday, with both teams opening regular-season play on Sep. 4, when Stroud hosts Pawhuska at 7 p.m. and Prague hosts Wyandotte at 7 p.m.
