The Stroud City Council took no action on appointing a new city manager at its regular meeting on Sept. 8.
The Council went into executive session to discuss the possible employment, hiring or appointment of Shelly Garrett as city manager. When they came back, they took no action. They also took no action on a Social Media Policy for the city due to needing more research.
The Council approved Fall Clean Up Week for Oct. 5-9, and did not approve leasing a location for a billboard at the old schoolhouse to Mike Byers, saying they didn’t see the benefit.
The Stroud Utilities Authority met following the Council meeting and decided to leave Violett Junktion’s lease at $400 a month while extending the lease for two years in order to keep business downtown.
TheAuthority also approved a transfer of $200,000 to the General Fund and a street overlay at the lake. They also removed a Commercial Special Electric rate code that had been in place for around a decade, but never really used.
