Stroud hosts Open House to introduce community to new high school

“It’s a living and breathing place,” Stroud public schools superintendent Joe Van Tuyl said. “Schools tend to be institutions. We don’t want our school to feel like an institution. We want the place to be where we can live and work. One where our students and faculty feel comfortable coming to work.”

The school, located at 1201 E Seventh Street, does not look like a high school facility. Rather, it looks like a junior college. “It is an opportunity for students and the community to work out of a high quality facility and maximize their opportunities,” Van Tuyl said.

There are four main hallways of classrooms; 66 west and 66 east, each having an upstairs  and a downstairs. The hallways were designed to look like a highway, and each has photos from Highway 66 from its beginning in Los Angeles, CA, all the way to the end of the highway in Chicago, IL.
