Agra hires new school employees

Two new employees are working at Agra Public Schools. Both of the employees were approved to work during the regularly scheduled meeting held September 9. The board also received reports from the principals and superintendent.


Ashley Workman and Malissa Jones are the new employees for the school system. Workman will be a teacher’s aide, while Jones will be offi ce aired and substitute teacher. The extra duty contracts were not addressed, according to the clerk’s minutes.


Jeff Kelly gave the superintendents report during the meeting. He reported on the October 3 Regional School Board meeting, the special board meeting set for September 18, and the new acellus program, according to the minutes by the board’s clerk.


Elementary school principal Dr. Janet Watkins gave the elementary principals report to the board. She reported on enrollment, which is Rennie Nickell, the junior and high school principal, gave his report. He reported on athletics and the enrollment. The treasurer’s and activity fund reports were approved. All fundraiser requests were tabled during the meeting, according to the minutes.


The District Accreditation Status, District Act Report, and District College Remediation Rate were approved. Also approved were the resolution to endorse the CCOSA Blended and Virtual Learning Framework; the Virtual Student Handbook and Oddyssey Ware, Accellus, Study Island, Buckle Down, and Alpha Plus as curriculum; and the ACT as the locally selected high school state test.


Two student conventions were approved. An overnight trip for the Future Farmers of America National Convention 2019 is one. The other convention is Tulsa BPA Members competing in the State Contest at State Conventions on March 10-11, 2020.


Payroll and encumbrances were approved. These include, general fund encumbrances #232-330, child nutrition fund #8-25, bond fun #23-40, building fund #5-9, and sinking fund #1-2.


The minutes from the August 12 meeting were approved. The next regularly scheduled Agra Board of Education meeting will be October 14.
