George Russell Tate

George Russell Tate was called home on October 11, 2019. He was born on December 26, 1923 in Winters, Tx to Charles Robert Tate I and Myrtle Bell Creek.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dottie Hamilton Tate, son Charles R Tate II, his parents, and siblings Charles, Eugene, and Vera. George is survived by his wife of 15 years, Dora Tate, children Vicki Miller, Russell Tate, and Susan Tate.

He gained Bobby, Fred, Donna, Faye, and Kim through his marriage to Dora.

He is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, many family and friends. George was a Texas State Golden Gloves Boxing Champion who graduated from Amarillo High School in 1942.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy. He is a veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 1239 in Amarillo, Tx.

He was a lifelong Teamster who drove for TransCon and Greyhound. George attended church at The Church of Christ in Wellston.

He was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.

Services for George were held at Hibbs Funeral home in Choctaw, Oklahoma on Wednesday, October 16, at 1p.m.
