Two wild hog hunters nabbed three alleged thieves at a residence on private property in the rural Sparks area shortly after midnight Monday, holding them at bay until law enforcement officers arrived.

The three arrested, two males and a female, reportedly were transported to the Lincoln County Jail in Chandler.

Lincoln County Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said his office had no information to release on the case and a report was not yet available.

The hunters asked not to be identified. They had been given permission to hunt wild hogs on the property.

One of the hunters said he and the other hunter noticed a vehicle pull into the private residence. He said the three were using flashlights and going through containers outside the residence.

The hunter stated he has a thermal scope on his hunting rifle.

“I could tell the three were going through the containers and then they went into a barn and were carrying stuff outside of it,” he said.

He said he could tell they went into the house because the blinds were drawn and he and the other hunter saw their flashlights.

“When we approached the house, all three were outside of the residence on the porch when we put our flashlights on them.

“They put their hands up and got on the ground,” he said.

“We called 911 and we held them at gunpoint until Sac and Fox officers arrived. Shortly after they got there, Lincoln County deputies showed up, too,” the hunter reported.

He said at least four or five law enforcement units came. He said officers took them to jail.

The hunter said another burglary report had been taken just a couple of days earlier on property in the area owned by his family.
