COVID-19 cases increase by five in Lincoln, Pott counties

The total number of persons in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties testing positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus has increased by only five in the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health is reporting.

The OSDH issued this statement Tuesday saying, “As highlighted in the Governor’s EO report published Monday evening, the state has processed since Saturday 16,308 specimens tested for COVID-19, which is an average of 5,400 tests processed a day. As a result, the percentage of positives derived from Oklahoma’s total COVID-19 tests has declined again to an all-time low of 4.4 percent.”

Total number of persons testing positive throughout the state as of Tuesday is 5,489.

However, the number of deaths from the virus was 294 on Tuesday. That’s an increase of 16 over that past seven days compared to a jump of 31 from the prior seven-day time frame, an indication that the virus is tapering off in Oklahoma.

The number of combined positive cases in Lincoln and Pottawatomie Counties now stands at 76. That’s an increase of only five from the 71 of a week ago.
