A Shawnee man was critically injured in a one-car traffic collision late Friday night on U.S. 177 north and east of McLoud, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
State Trooper Adam Post identified the driver as John W. Harper, 51. He reportedly was transported by REACT Ambulance to a hospital and admitted in critical but stable condition with trunk internal and external injuries.
Post said the collision occurred just before 11 p.m. on U.S. 177 just south of Hazel Dell Road, one mile north and five miles east of McLoud in Pottawatomie County.
The trooper reported Harper was driving a 1998 Ford northbound on U.S. 177. The vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, rolled one time, and came to rest facing the east in the tree line.
Harper was ejected, the trooper said.
Harper’s condition at the time of the collision is still under investigation as is the cause of the crash.
Seat belts were equipped in the vehicle but not in use, according to the report. The airbags did not deploy.
Post, of Troop A, was assisted by Troopers Joe Porter 275, and Trooper Nathan Battershell, also of Troop A, along with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Jacktown Fire Department and REACT EMS.
