The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has jumped by five in Pottawatomie County and by one in Lincoln County in the last few days, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.
The five additional deaths in Pottawatomie County include three females and two males, all in the 65 and older age group, the OSDH said.
Lincoln County’s latest death is a female in the 65 and older age group.
Over the past week the number of positive cases has continued to rise in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties.
The number of deaths in Lincoln County as of Tuesday this week stands at 33. A week ago it was 32.
In Pottawatomie County that number is 38. Last week it was 33.
The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 463 in the last week and in Lincoln County they increased by 184, according to figures provided by the OSDH.
Between the two counties, the number of positive tests has jumped by 647 in the last seven days.
Lincoln County’s number this week is 2,236. A week ago it was 2,052. Two weeks ago it was 1,916 the OSDH said.
The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County this week stands at 5,860. Last week it was 5,397. The county’s total two weeks ago was 4,908.
Total number of people testing positive in the two counties now stands at 8,096, according to the OSDH.
A week ago that number stood at 7,449. Two weeks ago the number was 6,824.
Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is 7,096, according to OSDH figures.
In Pottawatomie County, 5,157 have recovered and 1,939 have recovered in Lincoln County.
Statewide as of Tuesday 398,268 have tested positive, there have been 2,571 deaths and 271,693 who have recovered. Active cases stood 34,004 at the OSDH reports.
Last week there were 283,781 testing positive, there had been 2,405 deaths and 248,748 had recovered.
There were 32,628 active cases a week ago.
This week on Tuesday, the OSDH reported 1,497 new positive cases confirmed and 19 additional deaths.
The OSDH reports more than 2.4 million people have tested negative.
