COVID deaths keep climbing

The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 has climbed to 55 in Pottawatomie County over the past week, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.

The five additional deaths reported in the county include a female 65 or older, two males, 65 or older the OSDH said. Information on the other two has not been provided by the OSDH.

The 55 deaths compare to 50 a week ago, the OSDH reports.

Four more deaths have been reported in Lincoln County over the last seven days.

They include three males, two in the 50-64 age group, and one 65 or older, the OSDH said.

Information on the fourth was not available from the OSDH.

The number of deaths in Lincoln County as of Tuesday is 43. A week ago it was 39.

Over the past week, the number of positive cases has risen in both Pottawatomie and Lincoln counties, but the increase has slowed some over previous weeks, OSDH figures show

The number of new positive tests in Pottawatomie County jumped by 229 in the last week and in Lincoln County they increased by 113, according to figures provided by the OSDH.

Between the two counties, the number of positive tests has jumped by 342 in the last seven days.

Lincoln County’s number this week is 2,842. A week ago it was 2,729. Two weeks ago it was 2,592 the OSDH said.

The number of people testing positive for the virus in Pottawatomie County this week stands at 7,218.

Last week it was 6,989. The county’s total two weeks ago was 6,710.

Total number of people testing positive in the two counties now stands at 10,060, according to the OSDH.

A week ago that number stood at 9,718. Two weeks ago the number was 9,302.

Total number of people who have recovered in the two counties is now 9,330, the OSDH reports. In Pottawatomie County, 6,742 have recovered and 2,588 have recovered in Lincoln County.

Statewide as of Tuesday, 392,164 people have tested positive, there have been 3,602 deaths and 360,702 who have recovered. Active cases stood at 27,860 the OSDH reports.

Last week there were 376,824 testing positive, there had been 3,323 deaths and 342,697 had recovered. There were 30,404 active cases a week ago.

This week on Tuesday, the OSDH reported 1,296 new positive cases confirmed and 38 additional deaths.

The OSDH reports more than 2,822,470 people have tested negative.
