Expansion at Mint Turbines

Mint Turbines in Stroud has announced an expansion that is bringing additional jobs to town.

Danny Hickman, T-53 customer service manager and in charge of all government contracts for Mint Turbines, said the company employs about 46 people and will add another 20 to 30.

He explained Mint Turbines performs maintenance and repair of helicopter and aircraft engines and accessories and this summer will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Stroud.

The expansion is related to Mint Turbines becoming a T700 licensed maintenance repair and overhaul provider for General Electric.

“We are doing the expansion now,” Hickman said. “We are refurbishing the original hangar when the company was founded in 1981. They are putting on part of the roof today,” he said on Monday of this week.

“The sides are up and we’re getting close to where we will be inside. The expansion should be done in about the next 60 days,” Hickman said. “In late June, early July, we should be able to accept product.”

“Next to the medical field, the Aerospace industry is the second most scrutinized on the planet. And it should be. Safety first,” he said.

Richard McConn, president of Mint Turbines, said in a press release, “We couldn’t be more pleased with the opportunity afforded Mint Turbines by GE and the state of Oklahoma. This is a classic example of a team effort that will provide benefits to all of the parties involved.”
