A one vehicle traffic collision near Agra in Lincoln County critically injured a teenage driver recently.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Snyder reported the 17-year-old driver from Welch, OK, was transported by Medi-Flight to OU Medical Center and admitted in critical condition.
The trooper said the juvenile, whose name was withheld, suffered head injuries.
The collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on March 2 on 770 Road, 330 feet east of 3410 Road, three miles east of Agra.
Snyder said the teenager was driving a 2017 Subaru Forrester westbound on 770 Road at a high rate of speed and lost control.
The vehicle went off the roadway to the left and struck a mailbox, then continued westbound and started turning sideways, he said.
The vehicle began to roll and re-entered the roadway. The driver was then ejected and came to rest in the roadway and the vehicle continued to roll 4 ½ times, coming to rest in the ditch on its top, Snyder reported.
The trooper said the condition of the driver at the time of the collision was apparently normal. He listed cause of the crash as speed unsafe for roadway.
Seat belts were equipped in the vehicle but not in use, Snyder reported, and the airbags deployed.
Snyder, of the Lincoln County detachment of Troop A, was assisted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa Fire Department, Agra Fire Department, Cushing Fire Department and Medi-Flight.
