Bench warrant in firearm case

A $15,000 bench warrant has been issued for an Oklahoma City man who allegedly pointed a firearm at a woman in Lincoln County last December.

Joe Lee Smith, 34, was formally charged on March 2 in Lincoln County District Court with two felonies including feloniously pointed a firearm and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.

Smith is accused of pointing a firearm at Ginger Denise Mercer at 331738 E. 760 Road in Perkins in Lincoln County on Dec. 20, 2020.

The second felony count states Smith was possessing a firearm at that address after previously having been convicted of a felony on Feb. 26, 2014.

Both crimes are punishable by imprisonment for 1 to 10 years, the information states.
