A warrant for the arrest of a Wellston resident has been issued after three felonies and a misdemeanor were filed against him recently.
Joel Thomas Williams, 25, was formally charged April 7 in Lincoln County District Court with three felonies including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, grand larceny from dwelling, unauthorized possession/ use of credit card belonging to another.
The misdemeanor is for petit larceny. Count 1 against Williams accuses him on about Dec. 29, 2020, and continuing since then, of knowingly and wrongfully refusing to return a 2014 Black Dodge pickup truck after being allowed to temporarily use the vehicle by the true owner, Charles David Holmby at the owner’s residence, 334816 East Canyon Rd., Wellston in Lincoln County.
In Count 2, grand larceny from dwelling, Williams is charged with on about Dec. 29, 2020 and continuing since then of wrongfully obtaining a Wal-Mart Gift/ cash card which belonged to his grandparents with a value of $1,000 from the owner’s residence and has since appropriated that card for his own use.
Count 3 alleges Williams beginning on about Dec. 29, 2020 wrongfully obtained two credit cards that belonged to his grandparents and in the weeks following used those credit cards for his own benefit without authorization from them.
Prosecutors state the total amount he ran up on the cards was approximately $1,400.
Williams is also accused of obtaining a cell phone that belonged to his grandmother Ellen Jane Holmby with a value of $500 and has since that time appropriated that phone for his own use. That is a misdemeanor.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Capt. Chuck Brewer and Deputy Sheriff Cody Coleman investigated the case.
