Bench warrant in sex offender case

A $5,000 bench warrant has been issued in Lincoln County for the arrest of a Shawnee man who reportedly failed to comply with sex offender registration.

Formal charges were filed on April 14 in Lincoln County District Court against Michael Earl Moore, 35, Shawnee, and the bench warrant was issued the same day, court records show.

Moore is accused of failure to comply with sex offender registration by failing to maintain a registration of his actual address as required by the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry Act on about Dec. 18, 2020, in Lincoln County.

This was due to his conviction in Oklahoma County District on a charge of Lewd Acts and Forcible Sodomy.

Lincoln County Deputy Sheriff George Kelly Coleman states in a probable cause affidavit that he completed a Sex Offender compliance check at 339603 E. 890 Road, Chandler, within Lincoln County. Coleman said Moore, who is required to register at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and update his physical address, had last done so on Apr. 16, 2019.

Coleman reported that Lincoln County Sheriff Office Sex Offender Registry Records show that a compliance check was completed on Oct. 15, 2019 and showed Moore to be in compliance.

The deputy stated on the Dec. 18, 2020 compliance check he was told Moore had actually never lived at that address. His mother had dropped him off there for a short time but the residents did not want him there and he left.

Coleman was further told the residents believe that Moore lives in his mother’s home somewhere in Shawnee.

The deputy said the Oklahoma Sex Offender Registry web site does not show that Moore has registered anywhere else since Aug. 16, 2019. Coleman requested an arrest warrant for Moore on the crime of Violation of the Sex Offender Registration Act.
