The Chandler Board of Education this week voted to approve a one-time stipend for all full time staff members taking on additional duties due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
School Supt. Melody Toma explained each of the certified staff members will receive a $1,500 stipend and each of the support staff members will be provided $1,000.
The board also hired a new Elementary School Principal, three elementary teachers and a high school teacher who will also be the head baseball coach.
Toma announced the new Elementary Principal is Lisa Almand. She said Almand has been a teacher within the Chandler School District.
New Elementary teachers hired include Leslie Rollins, Shawnda Pummel and Autumn Pearce.
The new high school math teacher and head baseball coach is Chance Pearce.
Board members also hired Jon Ostrowski as groundskeeper/maintenance.
Toma said the board also accepted the resignations of Charlotte Dean, multi-handicapped Special Education teacher, Caven Herring, math teacher and head baseball coach and Kaylee Howard, fifth grader teacher.
The board approved a contract with Shelley Haley as website coordinator for Fiscal Year 2021-2022.
Board members approved an out of state trip for Archery to participate in the NASP World Championship tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from June 10-13 this year.
Toma said four members of Chandler’s Archery team qualified for the World Championships.
The board agreed to a school picture bid proposal with Central School Oklahoma Pictures (Tom Flora) of Shawnee for the 2021-2022 school year.
She said board members also agreed to surplus a list of Google Chromebooks and approved a list of Junior High/High School football equipment as surplus.
One milk cooler from East Side cafeteria and one milk cooler from Park Road cafeteria were voted by the board as surplus.
Also, the board voted to approve a list of East Side library books as surplus.
In other action the board: Approved membership with the Oklahoma State School Boards Association for 2021-2022.
Approved a service agreement for unemployment representation and services provided by OSSBA for 2021-2022.
Agreed to a policy renewal with OSSBA for 2021-2022.
And approved an agreement with the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administrators to participate in CCOSA’s Financial Assistance Program for FY 22.
