Kenneth Lee Herd

Kenneth Lee Herd, 84, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother passed away at his home on May 6, 2021.

Kenneth was born May 7, 1936 in Kendrick, Okla., to Guy and Virgie (Gray) Herd. He was one of 11 siblings. He was a Chandler High School Graduate of the class of 1954.

He married Carol Lofton Herd on June 10, 1956 at the First Christian Church in Chandler. He has always been a longtime Lincoln County resident. Kenneth worked as butcher before he went on to work for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for 31 years, after retirement he took on many jobs. Kenneth loved to be around horses all his life, he raised and showed them. He was an avid OU fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild Joseph Stewart, two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Carol Herd; daughter Suzanne McBane and husband Everett of Muleshoe, Texas; daughter Linda Stewart and husband Mike of Meeker, Okla.; son David Herd of Texas; four grandchildren, Stephanie Krupa and husband Mike of Durango, Colo.; John Isaac (Zac) Stewart and wife Meghan of Minot, N.D.; Lynnie Meeves and husband Dillon of Canyon, Texas; Clara McBane of Shallowater, Texas; sister Myrtle Garrison; seven great grandchildren; in addition to extended family members and friends.

A Graveside Service honoring his life will begin at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, with Johnny Melton officiating. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting. Care Services are provided by Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Chandler.
