A 25-year-old Chandler resident was arrested this week by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for allegedly participating in the incident on Jan. 6 of this year where hundreds of people stormed the U.S. Capitol.
Federal court records show that on Monday of this week the FBI executed a warrant for the arrest of Tanner Bryce Sells.
A source said the arrest by the FBI occurred in Chandler after Sells was reportedly stopped by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper.
Public records show the warrant was executed and returned.
An FBI agent says in a Statement of Facts “there is probable cause to believe that Tanner Bryce Sells violated the U.S. Code which makes it a crime to (1) knowingly enter or remain in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority to do so.
“And (2) knowingly and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions, engage in disorderly or disruptive conduct in or within proximity to any restricted building or grounds when, or so that, such conduct impedes or disrupts the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions.”
He goes on to state “or attempts or conspires to do so.”
The agent further states “that there is probable cause to believe Sells violated the U.S. Code which makes it a crime to willfully and knowingly utter loud, threatening or abusive language, or engage in disorderly or disruptive conduct at any place in the grounds or in any of the Capitol buildings with the intent to impede, disrupt or disturb the orderly conduct of a session of Congress or either House of Congress, or in that building of a hearing or deliberations of a committee of Congress or either House of Congress.”
Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui signed the order on May 12 to seal the case against Sells. With Monday’s arrest of Sells, and the warrant executed and returned, the case was unsealed that day, records show.
Lincoln County District Court records also show that Sells has a pending felony case of Domestic Abuse—Assault and Battery against him. The records show he is currently on the May 27 call docket.
The case was filed in December of 2019. A protective order was also filed against him in November of 2019 the records show that remains in effect today.
