John William Humphrey was born March 4, 1937, in Luther, Okla. He died Saturday, January 23, 2021, in Oklahoma City at the age of 83 years.

Humphrey, a 1957 Wellston High School graduate, served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from Sun Oil Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Wellston.

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Francis Humphrey; his brothers, Robert Lee Humphrey, James Humphrey, Herman Humphrey, Ted Humphrey and Rusty Humphrey; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Joyce Humphrey of Wellston; his children and their spouses, Terry and Janet Humphrey, Tawnya and Rex Franklin, Teresa and Tony Bailey, and Tony Humphrey, all of Wellston and Tammy and Steve Spitler of Aledo, Texas. He is also survived by his siblings Wayne Humphrey of Harrah, Ann Prince of Edmond, Okla., Mary Payne, and Warren (Rude) and Sue Humphrey, all of Wellston; his sisters-in-law, Carol Humphrey of Edmond and Linda Humphrey of Guthrie, Okla.; nine grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Wellston with burial following at Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Boydston Bailey-Funeral Home in Luther.
