Kristen Rachelle (Harris) Rusk of Meeker, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the age of 40. Kristen was born on August 28, 1980 in Shawnee. She was the daughter of the late Cheyenne Harris and Cynthia “Cindy” Ann (Troutman) Peterson. She attended Prague Public Schools, before moving to Shawnee Public Schools. She was a 1999 graduate of Shawnee High School. Following high school, Kristen attended Seminole State College and then graduated from East Central University in Ada, with her bachelor’s degree in education. Following her time in college Kristen began her 14-year teaching career with Chandler Public Schools. She taught third grade and fourth grade at Park Road Elementary. She had a great passion for teaching and touched many young lives throughout her career.

Kristen married her high school sweetheart, Billy Rusk, on November 29, 2003 at the Prague United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Meeker, where they had three beautiful daughters, Lauryn, Taryn and Kamryn. Kristen was very active in their lives and loved participating in the activities they were passionate about. She loved spending time with them, especially taking them shopping. Her family was the light of her life.

Kristen was preceded in death by her father, Cheyenne Harris; mother, Cynthia Peterson; her grandfather, Cliff Troutman; her grandparents, Richard and Margie Harris; great grandmother, Flo Ream; her aunt Cathy Hall and her cousin, Dara Wingate.

She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Billy Rusk; three daughters, Lauryn Rusk, Taryn Rusk and Kamryn Rusk; special niece, Bailey Harris; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Ali Rusk; Sister, Kacey Harris; Brothers, Tanner Peterson and his wife Hailey, Scott McLaughlin, Tyler Harris, Dakota Harris and Justin Anderson; grandmother, Jerry Troutman; aunts, Susan Troutman-Riordan, Vickie Morris and Ollie Carpenter; sister-in-laws, Cindy McElrath and her husband Tim and Mary Whiteman and her husband David; brother-in-law, Robby Rusk and his wife Kristy and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the teachers, faculty and students of Chandler Public Schools. They would also like to thank the doctors and nurses of the Stephenson Cancer Center and the Chickasaw Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the Tecumseh Pentecostal Church of God.
