Roy Farrell Taylor Sr. of Sparks was born December 21, 1933, in Chandler. He died Monday, January 11, 2021, at his home. He was 87 years old.
Taylor, a 1952 graduate of Davenport High School, served in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He was a carpenter by trade.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Dempsey and Maggie (Stidham) Taylor; his son Charlie Taylor; his son-in-law Dexter Davis; daughter-in-law Kathy Taylor; an infant son John Taylor; and his siblings, C.L. Taylor, Gracie Thronesberry and Dorothy Wakley.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Jo (Newnam) Taylor of the home; his children, Roy F. Taylor Jr. of Sparks, Donita Davis of Pink, Okla., and Bobby Taylor of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by siblings, Jerry Taylor and Bill Taylor, both of Chandler, Ira Taylor and wife Sue of Wellston, Don Taylor and wife Margret of Oklahoma City; and other family and friends.
A graveside funeral will be held 2 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2021 at White Dove Cemetery in Sparks under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
