Carney continues renovations at school baseball, softball fields

Joe Wilson said, in a special meeting of the Carney Board of Education June 8, that the sidewalk had been finished and that work was started on the softball fence and relocating the bleachers for the baseball and softball fields.

The board approved ratifying the renewal of the lease-purchase for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020 as required by the provision of the Equipment Lease/ Purchase Agreement dated Mar. 8, 2016 for new gym flooring and bleachers between the District and BancFirst.

A motion was also made and approved to ratify the renewal of the lease-purchase for the fiscal year ending June 20, 2022 as required under the provisions of the Lease/Purchase Agreement dated July 10, 2017 for outdoor lights for the baseball and softball fields between the District and BancFirst.

Other actions made by the board include:

• Approval of the consent agenda

• Brian Keith reported that the summer food program served 1042 meals in May.

• Approval of the appointment of Jackie Graham as the school district’s encumbrance clerk and minutes clerk.

• Approval of the bond renewal for the superintendent, treasurer, encumbrance, minutes clerk and activity fund custodian for the 2020-2021 school year.

• Approval of the audit engagement letters and contracts with Wilson, Dotson & Associates, PLLC for the 2019-2020 fiscal year audit.

• Approval of contract with CRW for E-Rate services.

• Approval of selection of insurance provider for workers compensation coverage.

• Approval of selection of insurance provider for property and liability coverage.

• Approval of contract with Center for Education Law.

• Approval of special services agreement between Carney Public Schools and Wewoka Public Schools Co-op Head Start Program.

• Approval of consolidated Networks Maintenance and Service Agreement.

• Approval of the following bus driver contracts for the 2020-2021 school year: Rickey Evans, Alex Newport, Brian Keith, Taylor Freeman.

• Approval of the following adjunct teachers for the 2020-2021 school year: Alex Newport (high school art, and speech), Alexander Perry (middle school math).

• Approval of the employment of Alex Newport on a non-probationary contract for the 2020-2021 school year.

• Approval of the employment of James Borrone as a secondary teacher for the 2020-2021 school year.
