COVID cases pass 18,000 in Pott, Lincoln

Total area cumulative COVID-19 cases have topped the 18,000 mark, figures from the Oklahoma State Department of Health show this week. In Lincoln County, there have been a total of 5,215 positive cases reported since the COVID-19 out break began.

Closed Friday

Chandler board transfer policy

The Chandler Board of Education this week approved a revised policy on “Student Transfers” to replace the “Open Transfer Policy on Transfers and Assignments.” Board Clerk Natalie Ussrey explained this was done to come into compliance with a new state law that takes effect Jan. 1, 2022.

Assessor’s audit results

The Oklahoma State Board of Equalization certified that Lincoln County Assessor Jackie Holcomb’s office is in compliance with two major annual audits at its meeting on Dec. 1. The State Board reviewed information on all 77 counties and acted upon the recommendation of the Oklahoma Tax Commission.

Deferred sentences

A Stroud woman has admitted charges of enabling physical abuse of a minor and child neglect and has been handed two, five-year deferred sentences. Melissa Suzanne Reinhardt, 39, was formally charged April 8 in Lincoln County District Court with enabling physical abuse of a minor and child neglect.

Assault and battery charge

Chandler police and a Lincoln County deputy arrested a subject after they were called to a reported domestic assault of a woman who had suffered a stroke three weeks earlier. A formal charge of domestic assault and battery was filed in Lincoln County District Court on Nov.

Three arrested in county burglary

Three people from Stroud were arrested recently by Lincoln County Sheriff deputies and Stroud police officers charged with acting in concert with one another. Brandi Rae Brown, 47, Mavis Yevonne Brooks, 51, and Shawn Paul Brown, 26, each are charged with second degree burglary.

A pre-preliminary hearing has been continued again for the owner of a major illegal marijuana grow operation who was charged following her arrest by agents in June. Sai Ying Lin, 48, of Tryon, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court June 23.

School board contested races

The three-day filing period for school board offices closed last week and races developed in two Lincoln County school districts and in two Pottawatomie County school districts. In Carney, Ronald Brown, Jacob Thompson and Jesse Townsend will be on the ballot in the Feb. 8 primary election.
