Preparedness

I had to take grandson Bennett to school a while back. It was raining and we had to walk a bit through the parking lot, and I noticed out of the corner of my eye that he was wearing orange swimming goggles. Interesting, I thought. He hadn’t been wearing them in the pickup two minutes earlier.

Valentine’s Day was Thursday. I learned many, many years ago what to do for this day. I’ve done various things, but there are some basics that have become entrenched in my mind that are a must. If you are new at this, you might want to take note. One is, order the flowers early.

Wellston man waives jury trial

One of four persons from Wellston charged last summer with child neglect has waived his jury trial and a speedy trial. Steven Owen Cohran, 32, was formally charged July 24, 2023 in Lincoln County District Court with child neglect.

Stroud man waives jury

A Stroud man facing two felony counts dealing with child pornography has waived his jury trial. John Mack Byrd., Jr., 43, was formally charged July 29, 2022 in Lincoln County District Court with possession of child pornography and using access to computers to violate Oklahoma State statutes.

A quick trip out west for quail hunting

Had a chance last week to finally go quail hunting. It was the first time in several years. Until about 20162017, I didn’t miss hunting quail at least some time during the season. We had to put our little pointer Sassy to sleep in January of 2016 and we haven’t had a bird dog since.

Activities in the community this week include Stroud City Council meeting today, Thursday, February 8th 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. The Masonic Lodge will hold its all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast this Saturday, February 10th at the agricultural building for a cost of $7.00.
