Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Main Street Pavilion on Sunday to make donations for Stroud’s rescued dogs. We received supplies and monetary donations. I delivered all donations to the Tulsa Humane Society and Skiatook Paws andClawsAnimalRescueonMonday and Tuesday.

Meeker Town Board meeting

Meeker Town Board of Trustees this week authorized its Administrator to spend up to $2,000 for sand and delivery of that sand to develop a beach at Meeker Lake.

I was heading home from work last week and was cranking some Hank Williams as I got to the slalom on Highway 18 south of Chandler.I was tapping the steering wheel to keep time when - whoa! What is that bounding across the highway in front of me?It was a bobcat, that’s what it was.

Missing the train home

Over the Fourth of July weekend, I had the distinct honor of attending a wedding in the Fort Worth area. It was a lovely ceremony. Congrats to Ruby and Adam, may your union be stronger than my vehicle’s starter.The only snag? I didn’t actually have a car.

As readers look at this week’s column, the International Finals Youth Rodeo has only four performances remaining. The contestants compete Thursday morning beginning at 9 and in the evening starting at 7:30 p.m. and Friday morning again at 9.

Gratitude

We kept the grandson part of this past weekend and when Pat and I and little Liam were riding around on Sunday we drove by several fireworks stands.It’s hard not to drive by one as many as there are around and they’ve been selling fireworks for at l e a s t a couple of weeks already.
