Area FFA and 4H members turned out in force for the annual Meeker Ag Boosters jackpot swine show Saturday at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Almost 300 hogs were entered in the event, which drew competitors from several counties.

When the final buzzer sounded in the finals of the Tournament of Champions Championship in Tulsa, the Dale Pirates had accomplished something that hadn’t been done in more than 43 years. The Pirates became the first small school since 1978 to win the tournament, defeating Tulsa Memorial 59-52.

Casmen Hill, shown at right running for some of the 349 yards he gained Bethel, was named the Most Valuable Player in District 2A-2. Hill, who helped lead the Lions to a spot in the state quarterfinals, ran for 2,745 yards as a senior and averaged 12 yards per carry
