Chandler calendar

Following is a list of upcoming events in and around the Chandler community. The Chandler Lions Club meets at 12 p.m., each Thursday at First Christian Church, 614 Manvel. The Chandler Rotary Club meets 12 p.m., each Friday at Rt. 66 Bowl. The following events are planned for December.

Chandler’s season ended Friday night as the Marlow Outlaws showed why they’re undefeated and headed for the state quarterfinals. After Chandler scored on a long drive on its opening possession, the Outlaws put up 38 unanswered points and gradually pulled away, taking a 38-7 victory.

Davenport keeps rolling

Just needing the first half, the Davenport Bulldogs cruised by Keota last Friday night in the second round of the Class B playoffs. The contest was over at halftime. With the win, they are headed to a quarterfinals clash with Balko on the road Friday evening.

Morrison put up 36 points in the middle two periods and ended Stroud’s season with a 42-8 win Friday night in the second round of the playoffs. The Tigers closed out with a 6-6 record and a remarkable turn-around.

Chandler grabbed the No. 2 spot in District 2A-2 and a home game in the first playoffs by overwhelming short-handed Prague 47-14 Friday night. The Lions’ win, along with wins by Crossings Christian and Jones, left those three teams tied with 6-1 district records.

Davenport goes to 10-0, wins district

Davenport’s Bulldogs used a strong rushing attack and some clutch passing to nip Regent Prep 32-31 and capture the District title last Friday night. Undefeated on the season at 10-0, the Bulldogs host Yale Friday night in the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Bulldog stadium.

Baker makes fastpitch All-State

Stroud outfielder KayLyn Baker has been named to the Small School East All-State fastpitch team, headlining a list of Lady Tigers earning post-season awards. In addition to All-State honors, Baker was named to the 66 Conference all-conference team, All-District team and All-Region.
