Joan Harriett Hicks was the fourth of ten children born to Cora MaeAmrine and Robert Clingdon Hicks of Tryon, OK. She was born on June 12, 1934, and passed away on June 22, 2026, achieving the age of 92.She married Jimmie Martin on Sept. 1, 1951, while he was serving his country in the Army.

Carney Board hires interim police chief

The Town of Carney Board of Trustees hired an interim police chief at a special meeting on June 3.According to the minutes of the meeting, the trustees accepted the resignation of Chief John Cobb effective June 9, allowing him to switch to part-time at $20/ hr.
