To the editor: Since doing away with one voting day, we will never again have fair elections. Ballot counting going on for days and even weeks leaves too much room for adding or destroyingballots.

Chandler, Stroud and Prague all had home games for the playoffs Friday night, and all three got a surprise - a thick flurry of snow that moved through and made the games look like an NFL Frozen Tundra film.

Veterans Essays from Meeker

Meeker FFA chapter sponsored an essay contest for students as part of the school’s Veterans Day program on Friday. A panel of community members judged the essays and winners of each grade level received $15.

Chandler sidewalk project

The Community of Chandler is seeking a nearly $1 million grant from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to help fund a 1.1 mile sidewalk that will connect with an existing one completed earlier this year. Diann Herrmann helps head up the Safe and Healthy Lifestyles Committee in Chandler.

Floyd Douglas Satterfield

Floyd Douglas Satterfield, resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away October 27, 2022, at the SSM Health, St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years. Floyd was born in Davenport, Oklahoma on July 17, 1932, to Frances Julia Purscell and Brady Albert Satterfield.
