Democrats to meet Nov. 10

The next meeting of the Lincoln County Democratic Party will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Lincoln County Courthouse.

Weeding around Chandler fire hydrants

Chandler FFA members met at the Chandler Fire Dept Saturday for a safety briefing, then headed out across town to weed eat around fire hydrants. We believe that allowing the hydrants to be easily seen will help the fi e fighters if the need arises. Chandler holds approximately 200 hydrants.

Three times a champ

A mile into the state championship race Saturday, the question wasn’t if Meeker’s Riley Randall would win his third straight crosscountry state title. It was by how big of a margin.

Lions roll - Luther’s next

The Chandler Lions got their mojo back Friday night, whacking shorthanded Star-Spencer 48-0 to set up a potential threeway tie for second place in District 2A-2.

Games moved to Thursday

Area schools have moved this week’s football games from Friday to Thursday due to the expectation of heavy thunderstorms on Friday. As of Tuesday afternoon, the forecast called for a 90 percent chance of thunderstorms Sunday, followed by a 40 percent chance of rain Saturday.

Three felony charges filed

A Sparks man faces three felony counts following his arrest by Lincoln County deputies. Brandon Allen Walker, 43, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court on Oct. 7 with second degree burglary, unauthorized use of a vehicle and possession of firearms after a prior felony convciction.

Stroud A-6 Champs

Stroud won its district championship last week when Wewoka forfeited due to a lack of players. That left the Tigers with an unblemished district record of 5-0 going into Thursday night’s game at Savanna. It also gives them a home game for the first round of the playoffs, which begin next week.

Davenport falls to Wetumka

The Davenport Bulldogs, 2-2 in the district after suffering a 48-22 home loss to Wetumka, will wrap up the regular season Thursday night in a road game at Depew. Coach John Greenfield said kickoff is at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs stand 5-4 overall on the season.

College Success award winners

Two high schools in Lincoln County are among those which have earned a College Success Award in Oklahoma in 2022. According to the Oklahoma State Department of Education, Chandler and Prague High Schools are among 90 in the state selected this year.
