Meeker’s Town Board of Trustees this week tabled any action on reviving a bike and horse trail at Meeker Lake after listening to a local citizen and discussing the idea.

Chandler put on a strong second-half comeback Friday, but fell 30-21 to Class 4A Poteau. Poteau, ranked No. 6 in 4A this week by MaxPreps, bolted to a 30-7 lead, but Chandler dominated the second half and had the chance to cut the lead to a field goal or less in the final three minutes.

Davenport clips Yale in home opener

The Davenport Bulldogs grabbed their first win of the football season last Friday night limiting Yale to one touchdown while scoring four times themselves. They defeated Yale 26-6 in Davenport’s home opener.

Stroud got on the winning track Friday, beating Okemah 38-22 in the final non-district game. The Tigers were up 38-0 after three quarters. “Our kids played hard and really took care of the football, which is always a good thing for us” said Stroud head coach Josh Presley.

Tryon hearings continued

Pre-preliminary hearings have been continued for two of three former officials with the City of Tryon facing embezzlement and conspiracy charges as the result of a special investigative audit have made their initial appearances and their pre-preliminary hearings have been scheduled.

More charges in chop shop case

Two persons already charged in connection with an alleged chop shop operation face additional charges after they were arrested following a brief pursuit.
