Kingdom of Heaven

Jesus is the only teacher of how to enter into the kingdom of heaven. He is here today, and Jesus said to always watch and pray. Keep our minds on seeing and hearing Him. If we don’t watch, He will pass us by.This is serious because so many think He will come out of the sky.

Stroud Chamber off Commerce awards

Juanita McElvany Hill Leak

Juanita McElvany Hill Leak has accomplished a lot of living in 100 years. She was born on January 30, 1924, between the cities of Prague and Okmulgee to Valcie Bell Little and Robert Lorance McElvany. She became acquainted with Dwight Hill through church.

Agnes Baker

Stroud resident Agnes Baker recently celebrated her 100th birthday and was inducted into the Centenarians of Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Born on Jan. 22, 1924, Agnes has lived in Lincoln County for her entire life, according to Centenarians of Oklahoma.

Cole-Snider engagement

John and Cynthia Snider of Chandler are delighted to announce the engagement of their son, Cole Snider, to Heather Maker, daughter of Jana and Alan Cops and Bryan and Chris Maker, of Edmond.

October student Rotarians announced

Sydney Duncan and Harley Cole have been selected as Rotarians of the Month for October. Sydney Duncan is the daughter of Karen and Jeff Duncan. She has two siblings. After Sydney graduates, she would like to go to Barclay College and pursue a degree in business.

Pride gets superior rating at regionals

The Pride of Chandler Marching Band scored all superior ratings at the Northwest Regional Marching Band competition at Enid High School on Oct. 11. They were one of 12 bands to compete in Class 3A, along with two other Lincoln County high schools, Prague and Meeker.

Persimmons

Monday and Tuesday mornings, a thin layer of frost coated my windshield. The weather app on the phone said it was 37 degrees, so it wasn’t a freeze, but I figured, hey.

Meeker Quilter’s Guild camp

The Meeker Quilters’ Guild sponsored its 13th annual Summer Quilt Camp in July. This year, the camp honored Etta Busler who was a charter member of the Meeker Quilt Guild and a faithful helper with the camp. Mammoth Baptist Church hosted the 3-day event which was attended by 11 participants.
