Following is a list of upcoming events in and around the Chandler community for the month of March. The Chandler Lions Club meets at 12 p.m., each Thursday at First Christian Church, 614 Manvel. The Chandler Rotary Club meets 12 p.m., each Friday at Destinations. Mon., 8 - 5:30 p.m.

COVID deaths continue climb

The number of deaths in the area attributed to COVID-19 has jumped by five again over the past week and all of those are in Pottawatomie County, the Oklahoma State Department of Health reports.

State finalist

Chandler sophomore Kobe Smith, shown at right on his way to pinning his first-round opponent, made it to the finals in the 160-pound bracket Saturday at the Class 3A state tournament.

Meeker locks front door

The Meeker Town Board during its most recent meeting took action on two agenda items and no action on another. They voted to lock the front door at Town Hall until further notice, Town Administrator Dickie Walton said.

Area Agency on Aging program offers assistance

Lincoln County residents who have a loved-one in a Long Term Care facility, can receive information and assistance through various programs overseen by the Central Oklahoma Economic Development District Area Agency on Aging.
