It was good to see more school kids and people out at this year’s Pottawatomie County Free Fair which wound up Saturday evening at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee.Late August and early September each year are the months county fairs are held throughout Oklahoma.

Closure on Allison Avenue

On Sept. 3, a block of Allison Avenue running from Route 66 to Fifth Street was closed permanently. Part of the road was pulled up by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, while a new parking lot is currently under construction.

Dale School Board members approved the Estimate of Needs for the 2024-2025 school year during their most recent meeting and approved capacity numbers for 2024-2025.School Supt. Will Jones said the the Estimate of Needs for 2024-2025 totals $5,536,492.26.

Suspect charged with trying to shoot jailer

A suspect who was arrested by a Wellston police officer for driving while under the influence of intoxicating alcohol, reportedly pulled a gun and attempted to shoot a Lincoln County Sheriff’s jailer who was patting him down.

If screenwriter, actor and director Adam Hampton’s producing partner, Luke Wyckoff, had asked him before entering Kinolime.com’s screenwriting contest, he would have told him to not even bother.“I’m kind of cynical, but he was excited about it.
