Hearing set in Meeker case

A Meeker man charged for an incident about 1½ years has made his initial appearance and a hearing has been scheduled. Charles Lee Green, 67, was formally charged Feb.

A Shawnee man facing more than 30 felony charges of sex-related crimes with minors has been bound over to stand trial and his arraignment has been set. The 34 felony charges were formally filed in Pottawatomie County District Court on Dec. 15, 2022 against Danny Ray Weeks, Jr., 52.

At one time I never thought anything about it if I sneezed, and someone would say bless you. Later after I learned what being blessed meant I would get aggravated because I knew they did not know what it meant to be blessed. Today I have changed.

Saturday was a big day for Dale, as the Pirates and Lady Pirates won state championships and brought home two more gold balls for the trophy case. A driver who already has multiple felony convictions faces four new charges after he reportedly led Stroud police on a high speed pursuit and was arrested. Dustin Don Secrest, 41, of Coweta, was formally charged in Lincoln County District Court March 10 with two felonies and two misdemeanors.

Chandler High School has announced its valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. The valedictorians are Emma Cummings, Sadie Sherman, Ahna Smith, Ethan Stone, Laryssa Nunn, Claire Irby, Brittany Robbins and Shayla Robbins. The salutatorian is Chace Massie.

Sandra Lou Johnson, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was 81 years old. Sandra was born on January 13, 1942 in Chandler, OK to Harold and Clara Eyestone. Sandra attended Victor, a tworoom country school northeast of Chandler, completing eight grades in seven years.

Carl Dwight Thompson was born at Agra, Oklahoma on October 11, 1944 to the Alva & Ellen ( Wittman) Thompson. He passed from this life in Drumright on January 26, 2023 at the age of 78 years, 3 months, & 15 days. His remains will be buried in the Parkland Cemetery at a later date.

Joy Elizabeth Hudson Hart, of Okesa, Oklahoma was born in Atlantic Field, Osage County, Oklahoma, on April 9th, 1935 to Quincy and Doshia Hoopes (Clark). Joy leapt into the arms of Jesus on the morning of February 17, 2023. She passed peacefully with her husband Merton and family by her side.
