Alvus Earl Morehouse was born November 18, 1925 in Rossville, Oklahoma to John and Daisy (Davis) Morehouse. He passed away December 25, 2022 in Oklahoma City at the age of 97. Al’s parents moved to Seminole in 1926 to work during the oil boom.

Tryon hearings continued

Preliminary hearings have been continued for two of three former officials with the City of Tryon facing embezzlement and conspiracy charges as the result of a special investigative audit have made their initial appearances and their prepreliminary hearings have been scheduled.

Pedestrian killed on turnpike

A pedestrian died New Year’s Eve afternoon after he was struck by two vehicles on the Turner Turnpike near Wellston in Lincoln County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports. State Trooper Hamilton identified the man who died as Thien Tran, 74, of Oklahoma City.

No decision on jail

Lincoln County commissioners this week continued to briefly discuss the proposed jail project but took no action on choosing a particular plan. County Clerk Alicia Wagnon reported that she learned ARPA funds can be used for the project as long as it doesn’t bring in federal prisoners.
